HELL'S NIGHT
CHAPTER 24- KAYLA'S BEDROOM

Kayla was becoming more and more impatient with every passing second. What the hell is taking him so long? She thought as she stretched her arms and legs in bed, waiting for Chris to return.

Twirling a strand of hair with her finger, she glanced down and examined her naked body, pleased that her bikini tan line from the summer was still there. Then, just as she got comfortable, a cold gust of wind blew through her open bedroom window, sending chills down her entire body.

“Fucking Chris,” she complained as she threw on her nearby bathrobe and dashed to close the window.

Shutting the window with a thud, she then realized that things had gotten awfully quiet both inside and outside her house. A few minutes earlier, the music came to a sudden halt, which was kind of unusual, considering it wasn’t even eleven o’clock yet. But still, despite that, there should have at least been some semblance of a party going on and there wasn’t, which pissed her off. She didn’t go to all this trouble to have the party crash at eleven, that’s for damn sure.

Gazing out the window, she looked across the street and saw the Robinson’s house and instantly thought of her best friend Madison. But what she didn’t notice in the reflection of the window was that, directly behind her, Michael Myers was standing in her bedroom doorway, his butcher knife gleaming in the moonlight.

“I wonder if she ever came over?” Kayla whispered to herself as she scattered a mess of clothes on the floor searching for her cell phone.

After about a minute, she found it at the bottom of the pile and dialed Madison’s number on her speed dial. When she stood back up, Michael Myers was nowhere to be found.

“Hey girl, what’s up?” Kayla asked cheerfully as Madison finally answered on the third ring.

“Kayla, what is going on over there?” Madison asked, clearly worried.

“What do you mean? Everything is fine. Why?” Kayla responded as the tone in her voice suddenly shifted from cheerful to concerned.

“While Tony, Sherry, and I have been watching from the house over here, everyone just took off like there was a mass murderer on the loose or something,” Madison informed her.

“Really?” Kayla questioned, pausing for a moment to think about it. “Well, I’m upstairs in my room, but the music stopped playing a little bit ago. Maybe the DJ took a break or something. But I don’t hear anyone screaming, or even talking for that matter. In fact, it’s completely quiet.”

“Where’s everyone else? Where are Chris, Eddie and Tim?” Madison asked, even more worried.

“Chris just went downstairs to get a beer,” Kayla answered. “He just saw Tim in the backyard and I haven’t really seen Eddie all night.”

“Kayla, something isn’t right,” Madison stated. “I think you should go find them and come over here until we figure out what’s going on.”

“What? Why? There’s nothing wrong,” Kayla replied stubbornly, but the tone in her voice wasn’t nearly convincing enough for Madison.

“Kayla please, just come over for a little bit, or at least go downstairs and make sure nothing happened,” Madison begged, almost pleading with her.

“Okay, okay, I’ll go check it out and I’ll call you back in five minutes. Alright?” Kayla assured her.

“Okay, fine,” Madison agreed. “But five minutes, Kayla, not ten or fifteen.”

“Don’t worry, everything is fine. Five minutes. Love ya, bye,” Kayla concluded in her typical good-bye fashion. Smiling, she turned around, but that grin quickly vanished, as she found herself face-to-face with the pale white mask of Michael Myers.

Kayla gasped and screamed almost at the same time, but nothing came out. Because at that very instant, Michael plunged his butcher knife deep inside her mid-section.

Her eyes widened with fright and pain as Michael pulled the bloody knife out and effortlessly tossed her against the wall.

Kayla, still trying to scream, fell on her back and struggled to sit up as blood gushed out of her mouth and spewed onto the floor.

She had no time to even try to escape, because Michael Myers was once again upon her. He stood over her for a long second just staring down at her before, then, tilting his head sideways, he repeatedly stabbed her in the chest as her life slowly drifted away.
