*NOTE: In the 1988 novelization, it was revealed that Deputy Pierce (Michael Flynn) and two other deputies were killed during Michael's police station massacre. In addition, the death of Jamie's dog, Sunday, was described in real-time, as Michael broke its neck and ripped its head completely off. In the 2003 expanded novelization, Jack Sayer (Carmen Filpi) had his eyes gouged out by Michael, but was taken to the hospital and presumably survived. Also, two mechanics were killed with the metal rod at the gas station, not just one.
