SEASON 2, EPISODE 17
THE MEPHISTO RING

Donald Wren (Denis Forest), a rumpled loser with an unfortunate gambling addiction,
believes his luck has changed when he discovers a ring with the power to pick winning
bets- for a deadly price. A thug hired by big-time bookie Anthony Macklin (James Purcell)
tries to strong-arm Donald into paying off his gambling debts by ravaging a thrift shop
run by Donald's parents. While there, the ruffian finds an old World Series ring, but
trying it on proves fatal. As Donald watches in terror and disbelief, the ring clamps
tightly around the man's finger, causing and unseen force to slowly crush the hood to
death. Seconds after the gruesome killing, the ring reveals to Donald a vision of the
outcome of the daily perfecta race. After he bets on the race and wins $5,000, an
ecstatic Donald realizes that he's finally on to a sure thing. Overcome with greed, he
gleefully plunges ahead, leaving behind a trail of death as the ring shows a new
winner with each murder committed.
