REVENGE AT CAMP BLOOD
CHAPTER 23- SHOCKED

"Hey cuz, what's up?" Scott said when he noticed Kevin walking toward him.

"Um, not too much," Kevin replied, trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Damn, it sure is beautiful up here, ain't it?" Scott said as he stared up in the sky.

"Yeah, it’s nothing like back home," Kevin replied, also looking up into the evening sky. "I feel so free and alive out here."

"Yeah I know what you mean," Scott added, still sounding excited that they were finally there. Both him and Sean seemed to be like two little kids on Christmas morning.

Just then, Kevin came back to his senses as Jake was trying to get his attention.

“Kev, hey Kev!” Jake whispered.

Back to his senses, Kevin’s reply was a meager “What?”

“I said, You know what I mean?” Jake whispered from behind his tree.

“Uhh, yeah, sure,” Kevin whispered back, trying to shake his memory.

“What happened? I’ve been calling you for like 5 minutes!” Jake asked.

“Oh, nothing, I guess I just spaced out,” Kevin replied.

“Well, don’t do it again! They could be here any minute!” Jake stated. “You ready?”

“Of course,” Kevin answered. “I’m always ready.”

“Yea, you look it,” Jake replied. “Shh, quiet, here comes someone.”

They both listened intently as footsteps rapidly approached.

An instant later, a dark figure came into the clear, and Jake and Kevin capitalized, taking him to the ground and repeatedly pummeling him.

They immediately stopped when they heard the Spanish.

It was Rico.

“Oh mi dios! Cuál es usted hacer de los individuos?” he yelled, trying to get them to let him go. (Translated, he yelled, “Oh my god! What are you guys doing?”)

“Jesus Christ, Rico!” Jake yelled. “Where the hell have you been?”

“I…been…chased by man in mask…” he yelled, out of breath. “He try to kill me.”

“It had to be Jason,” Kevin assured them. “Was he wearing a white hockey mask?”

“Ningún (no),” Rico replied. “Era rojo (It was red).”

“Will you speak English?” Kevin asked. “I have no clue what you are saying.”

“I do,” Jake replied. “He said the mask was red.”

“So?” Kevin asked.

“So…Isn’t your mask red, Kevin?” Jake asked.

“Uh, yeah, as a matter of fact, it is,” he replied, “But what does that have to do with anything?”

“Wait a minute,” he continued. “You don’t think I did this? Tell me you don’t think I did all this!”

Jake and Rico didn’t say anything.

They just gave him the “guilty” look.

“Come on guys, it’s me, Kev, you know what I’ve been through the past couple years,” Kevin said, trying to convince them. “Why would I ever do something like this?!”

The speech didn’t work.

To them, he was guilty as charged.

***

A second later, a mysterious figure came charging down an adjacent trail and speared Kevin to the ground.

It was Jarrod.

“You son of a bitch! You fucking killed her! How could you?” He yelled, punching Kevin with everything he had.

“What are you talking about?” Kevin yelled, as they fought on the ground with Jake and Rico standing there dumbfounded.

“You fucking off-ed my sister and all the others!” Jarrod yelled.

“No, I didn’t, you stupid son of a bitch,” Kevin yelled back, gaining the upper hand.

Kevin then landed a hard right to Jarrod’s mouth, knocking out some of his teeth and causing him to spit blood.

“You are about as brain dead as your those two over there,” Kevin stated. “I didn’t kill anybody. Can’t you assholes see that Jason is here?”

That ignited Jake and Rico, who jumped into the fight and tackled Kevin off of Jarrod.

“What the hell are you guys doing? I am not the one you should be tackling!” Kevin yelled, trying to fight them off.

“Listen here, JASON, the gig is up! We know what you’ve done!” Jake yelled.

“But I didn’t do anything!” Kevin insisted.

“Cut the bullshit, Kev,” Jake responded. “The bodies, the mask, it all fits! You want everyone to believe that Jason is alive, and you are using his m.o. to try to prove it. We aren’t fooled.”

“Jake, you’re my best friend,” Kevin fired back. “You know I would never do anything like this!”

Jake didn’t reply.

Instead, all three of them triple-teamed Kevin, beating him to a bloody pulp, as he maintained his innocence.

“How could you do it, Kev?” Jarrod asked, still spitting blood out of his mouth as Jake and Rico held up his limp carcass.

“I swear to you with my life, I didn’t do anything,” Kevin replied, bloodied and beaten.

“Well, KEV, good buddy, since we figured out your secret, we have a little secret of our own,” Rico stated, in perfect English.

“Your English,” Kevin barely managed to blurt out.

“My English is what, perfect?” Rico replied. “That’s because it always has been. I am not an exchange student from Texas.”

Kevin just glared at him as he revealed to him who he really was.

“You see, Kev,” He stated. “I am not from El Paso, Texas. I am from Pittsburgh. You know that place, right? Your hometown?”

“And Jake and Jarrod are not from Massachusetts, either,” He continued. “They are both from Pittsburgh, too.”

Jake and Jarrod nodded as Rico was about to continue.

Kevin, still puzzled, had no idea what bombshell they were about to drop on him.

“Let me put it into plain English for you,” Jake intervened with smile, slapping him across the face. “News flash. Jessica moans like a bitch when you fuck her.”

Shocked, Kevin eyes widened as he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“That’s right,” Jake continued. “Those three black thugs that killed Jessica weren’t even black. You’re looking at them.”
