THE LEGACY
CHAPTER 15- D-DAY

"Noooo!!!!" Rob shouted at the top of his lungs, and acting on pure animal instinct, attacked Jason.

He threw a shoulder into his chest that sent Jason sprawling backward, as he heard a sickening crunch as he gripped the chain around Jenny’s neck and yanked her head violently backward.

Rob pounced on Jason and began choking him.

Rob didn't notice, but he was now crying and still yelling at Jason as he choked his neck.

It had no affect on Jason at all. Rob might as well have been choking an oak tree, because Jason threw him off effortlessly.

Jason got to his feet and punched Rob in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him.

Rob hunched over and gasped for air, but Jason grabbed him by the back of the shirt and threw him, just barely missing a tree.

“No!” Rob moaned as he tossed and turned in his sleep on the rocky ground of Crystal Point.

"No!" Rob shouted at himself. "This is not my fault."

Krista's voice agreed with him, and then everything seemed alright.

His mind thought back to all of the blood that was shed here. Back to the dead bodies of Emmy and Sean, and Kunkle and Crowley. 'Who the hell were they?' Rob thought to himself.

Then it didn't matter.

Nothing else mattered.

Because the front end of the hummer successfully nailed Jason directly in the chest.

Rob was stunned Jason didn't move out of the way, and now the chain that Jason used to strangle Jenny was now tangled up in the front grill of the hummer and Jason was trying to climb over the hood and free the chain at the same time.

Rob was now only a few yards from the lake, and he went to brake, but Nikki's voice told him to keep going and don't stop.

It was too late anyway, because now the entire Humvee was driving on the dock, its thick tires half off of the edge.

But, somehow, it managed to ride the entire dock without falling off.

Rob saw the edge of the dock, and then closed his eyes and braced himself for the impact.

“Agghh!” Rob screamed as he woke up in a cold sweat from his nightmare. He looked around at his surroundings, and realized that his real life would soon become worse than any nightmare he could ever imagine.

"Love?!" Kevin commented, "I don't know what love is anymore."

"Yeah, well I do," Krista said. "Ever since I laid my eyes on you, I've felt this strange attraction to you. After all the time we've spent together the last few days, I now realize that you are the one for me."

Kevin just gazed at her, before breaking his silence.

"You know what?" Kevin stated, as a smile appeared on his face, "You don't know how happy I am to hear you say that."

"Really?" Krista asked.

"Yeah," Kevin replied. "Because I feel exactly the same way about you."

"You do?" Krista asked again.

"Yes, I do," Kevin eagerly responded. "The fact is, you are almost a mirror resemblance of Jess. That is why all this has come back to me," Kevin stated.

"Oh, is that good or bad?" she asked.

"It's good," Kevin replied, "Because I now know that while what I had with Jess was special, that was in the past, and I also know that what we have is special, too, and I don't want to lose you like I did Jess. I love you Krista."

Hearing that, Krista started to cry.

"Thanks to you, I can start life over, and move on. For that, I am eternally grateful," Kevin concluded.

Krista wiped the tears from her cheek and hugged him.

"I told you before, I am here for you. I love you," she responded…

“I love you too baby,” Kevin said as he peered out over the cliff overlooking Crystal Lake. The burning sun rose over the lake on what appeared to be a beautiful morning.

“Couldn’t sleep either?” Rob asked as he exited the cave.

Kevin noticed him coming out of the corner of his eye before he even spoke a word. That was great. His instincts were still razor-sharp, and that gave him a sense of relief, because he would sure as hell need it later in the day.

“I don’t think I slept more than an hour,” Kevin replied sternly.

“I tossed and turned a little, but I kept waking up in a cold sweat thinking Jason was standing over me,” Rob replied as he joined Kevin on the edge of the cliff.

“No, Jason won’t come until tonight,” Kevin answered, still not breaking his stance.

“I know,” Rob agreed as the two watched the sun rise above the mountains.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Kevin asked.

“What’s that?” Rob asked back.

“The sunrise. Krista and I loved watching the sun rise and set. She would always tell me, at every sunset, that it was one day closer to the day that we could finally be married and spend the rest of our lives together,” Kevin said, not trying to hide the fact that he was crying.

Rob just looked over at him and didn’t say a word.

“I promise you baby that today is the first day of the rest of our lives together,” Kevin screamed through gritted teeth as he looked up in the sky as if speaking directly to Krista.

“What do you mean by that?” Rob asked, even though he knew exactly what Kevin meant.

“That bag I showed you has more than just a few guns in it,” Kevin stated as he fought back the rest of the tears. “I have enough explosives to send a different part of Jason’s body to every planet in the fucking solar system. Along with mine.”

Rob opened his mouth to say something, but Kevin interrupted before Rob could speak.

“Don’t even try to stop me, or talk me out of it,” Kevin argued as he started to walk back to the cave.

“All I was going to ask was if you had enough for me too,” Rob replied without turning around to look at Kevin’s reaction.

“No way man, this is something I have to do,” Kevin stated.

“If you go down before me, then there’s no stopping me. We will have our revenge today, one way or the other,” Rob groaned sternly.

“We will,” was all Kevin could say back as he embraced Rob with a handshake.

“Now let’s get ready. We have work to do.”
