THE LAIR EXPERTS

Matt: Coming off of the success of one of the best fan films out there, 'Never Hike In The Snow' is centered around the disappearance of Mark Hill in the snowy woods of Crystal Lake six months prior to Kyle's adventures there. I was really excited to hear this film was in the works, and quickly backed it. The snowy setting was something fans have been clamoring for for a long time, and it was nice to see it finally delivered, albeit briefly. Jason is again ruthlessly portrayed by Vincente DiSanti, and the film more than delivers its fair share of gore and violence. The returning cast members of 'Jason Lives' were a nice touch as well, and really add depth to the overall story. However, the problem with this one is the running time. At just under 30 minutes, it is a far cry from the full-length 'Never Hike Alone'. Many fans felt like this one was going to be a full length follow-up, so you can imagine their surprise when the credits rolled just a half hour after it started. The production was excellent, and it was definitely theater-worthy, but we just expected more. Hopefully, going forward with this series, that part gets corrected. Despite that, at its worst, Womp Stomp's productions are better than 99.9% of the other fan films out there, and I am looking forward to see what it's in store for Ghost Jason next. 5 out of 10.
