THE LAIR EXPERTS

Matt: I was really surprised when this fan film came out. I had not heard anything about it, and was bummed out I couldn't support it. You can bet I won't make that same mistake again. This film is everything a fan film should be, and the real producers of 'Friday The 13th' should take notice when the long-dragging lawsuit situation is finally resolved. In the early 2000's, it was rumored that there would be a found footage style 'Friday The 13th' film coming out, but for whatever reason, that never came to fruition. I like to think that this film fills that void and shows what could have been (or still could be?) going forward. The acting was fantastic. Andrew Leighty really carries the film as Kyle, and Vincente DiSanti is absolutely ruthless as Jason. Those two make the film what it is, and the cameo appearance of Thom Mathews returning as Tommy Jarvis really gave this film a credibility not many other fan films have. The music by Ryan Perez-Daple was top notch, and the overall feel of the film has a real, professional cinematic quality to it. My only knock on it is their portrayal of the Crystal Lake area as being mountainous terrain. That was never mentioned in any of the previous films, and the camp itself was always shown as being in the middle of the forest, not a mountain. Maybe I am being picky, but that's the only part of the movie that took me out of it. Still, overall, a very solid film, and I'm looking forward to see where they go from here. 8 out of 10.
