1. The film opens with a famous quote by Dante Alighieri. This is similar to several films in the 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' series, who utilized the same convention in Parts 3, 4, and 6.

2. When Trevor and Bret are talking in the office, Bret points at the cameras and says, "The Hills Have Eyes", a direct reference to the 1977 Wes Craven film.

3. When Gwen and Trevor are in his apartment, she asks him, "See anything you like?" This is the same line used in 'Halloween' (1978) by Lynda.

4. When Pinhead's face appears through the wall, it is similar to when Freddy Krueger did the same thing hovering above Nancy's bed in 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' (1984).
