WESTIN HILLS
CHAPTER 29- OUT OF THE DARK

“W-where am I?” Lexi mumbled as she slowly came back to her senses. Ever since her encounter with Krueger, she had no idea where she was or what was going on. The last thing she remembered was staring into the fiery pit of the boiler preparing to face her doom, then just like that, she was free. But who saved her? And why? Racking her brain, she vaguely remembered the shadow of a man standing over her after she emerged from the flames. A tall, dark shadow of a man dressed in black...

“How are you doing?” the deep voice behind her called out, startling Lexi as she turned around to see who it was. Leaning against a nearby railing was a man dressed almost entirely in black from head to toe, casting an intimidating presence over her. She didn’t know for sure, but the height and the demeanor were very familiar, and the black hat was practically a dead giveaway. It had to be him.

“Your burns will heal,” the Man in Black informed her, pointing to her arms wrapped in bandages. “I found an old first aid kit and figured it would at least tide you over until we can get out of here and get real help.”

Glancing down at her arms then at her surroundings, Lexi realized they were very much still in harm’s way down in the decrepit old boiler room, just in another section of it. And as she listened to the all-too-familiar orchestra of steaming boilers and smoking pipes, everything came roaring back to her like a bolt of lightning. As much as she wanted to believe it, this nightmare was far from over.

“We have to go help the others!” Lexi demanded, struggling to get back to her feet. “Krueger is after them! We have to stop him!”

Putting a hand out to block her, the Man in Black remained persistent as Lexi could barely stand. “No,” he commented, shocking his new friend. “You can barely even walk. Once you’re able, we will figure out a plan, then we’ll go find Gwen and the others and get out of here.”

“That’s just it, my friends are in HERE somewhere with us,” Lexi piped back. “And if we don’t get to them before Freddy does...”

“Wait a minute,” Lexi interrupted herself as a look of surprise came across her face. “How do you know about Gwen? More importantly, how do you know about me and my friends?”

“I’ve been following you for a long time, Lexi,” the Man informed her. “In fact, I’ve been following all the teens of Springwood.”

“Who are you?”

There was dead silence. A moment later, the Man in Black stepped forward into the dim red light and slowly removed his black fedora, lifting first the front of the brim, then the back.

“My name is Cameron Parker,” he said with a sigh. “I guess you could say my family has had a long history with Fred Krueger.”

“Parker?” Lexi interrogated with a puzzled look on her face. “Where have I heard that name before?”

“My parents were part of the original mob that burned Freddy alive,” Cameron stated. “This was long before I was born though. I knew nothing about it until I found out my poor sister wound up right in the middle of it...”

“Your sister?”

“Kristen Parker. I’m sure you’ve heard of her, being at Westin Hills and all. It was because of Krueger she got put there in the first place. That bastard just wouldn’t die. It was almost like the entire town was put on alert to hide their children from him. I’ve done a lot of research on the subject, believe me. I know all there is to know about Freddy Krueger, at least in terms of how it relates to my real family.”

“What do you mean your REAL family?”

“I was given up for adoption when I was three years old,” Cameron continued. “As I grew up, I did some research and discovered my true heritage. Turns out my father left right after he found out my mother was pregnant with me, and that really messed our family up. My mom turned into an alcoholic and Kristen apparently lost her mind. She insisted Krueger was after her in her dreams, and when my mother found out, she freaked and had her committed at Westin Hills. They put Kris on so many drugs it nearly fried her mind. Whatever they did must have worked, because she was treated and released. But the next thing you know, she turned up dead, and although no one will ever admit it, I swear on my life it was Krueger who killed her. She got away from him somehow in Westin, but he managed to track her down in her dreams after she left, and he...he finally got her.”

Cameron tried to continue his story, but nearly broke down in tears. Lexi approached to try to console him, but he relented, holding out his right index finger to stop her as he turned away.

“I’m so sorry, Cameron,” Lexi responded, not knowing what exactly to say or do. “Fred Krueger is a bastard.”

“Yep,” Cameron agreed, regaining his composure as he turned back around and made eye contact with her. “And tonight, that bastard is gonna pay.”

Lexi just smiled.

***

“Oh god, Calvin, please wake up,” Gwen cried weakly, giving a last ditch effort to wake him up inside his prison cell. Noticing no affect, Gwen began to whimper, fearing the worst for her friend as she desperately clutched the bars outside the window.

SCREEEEEEECH!

That awful sound perked her up real fast. It was coming from inside the cell, but she couldn’t pinpoint the exact location so she turned her ear toward the cell. Leaning in closer and closer toward the window, Gwen could just about make out a figure below--

When, all of a sudden, two fiery red eyes appeared directly in front of her on the opposite side of the bars.

“BOO! Ahahahahaha!” Freddy Krueger chirped, grabbing Gwen by the collar and dragging her inside the cell between the bars, the very same bars that she couldn’t fit her head through only a minute before that.

Screaming, Gwen fell to the concrete floor with a thud as Freddy flexed his claw in front of her. “Calvin! PLEASE!” she shouted, scampering to the far side. But the ex-orderly, still deep in his slumber, remained totally motionless.

“Don’t worry about him,” Freddy stated, pointing at Calvin’s handcuffs. “Even if he was awake, I don’t think he’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.”

“You son of a bitch!” Gwen yelled, frantic as she backed into the bars of the cell.

“Aww, you really hurt my feelings,” Freddy joked sarcastically. “And now, you’re gonna have to be punished. Come to Daddy, little girl!”

“NOOOO!”

But it didn’t matter. Freddy had her cornered and there was nowhere to run. With Gwen screaming incessantly for Calvin to get up, Freddy easily seized her and flung her down to the ground, climbing on top of her at her waist.

Then, with one swipe of his claw, he slit open the front of her shirt, revealing her bra and the breasts hidden behind it.

“Oooh, verrrrry nice,” Krueger smirked as Gwen just stared up at him terrified. “You’re just like Lexi. You say no, no, no. But deep down, you know you want it.”

Slashing across her chest and lower abdomen, Krueger made several slits, forming a big X on her body in a criss-cross pattern. Then, raising his claw up to her wide-eyed face, Freddy slid the dull end of his blades across her lips, destined to take it a step further.

“Now, hold still little Gwenny, this might get a little messy,” Freddy quipped, rolling his tongue at her as he lowered his claw down toward her midsection.

“MOTHERFUCKER!”

Out of nowhere, Calvin came barreling at Freddy, tackling him hard into the brick wall on the opposite side. As Gwen retreated to the corner, she looked on in amazement as Calvin peppered Freddy with lefts and rights, catching the notorious Springwood Slasher by surprise.

“Aggggh!” Freddy yelped in pain as he noticed Calvin’s handcuffs hanging from his wrists.

“You as dumb as them cops are,” Calvin muttered, almost reading Krueger’s mind. “All I had to do was lift up the bottom of my bed, and the cuffs slid right off.”

But that wasn’t why Freddy was looking at them. After a back-and-forth struggle, he managed to slide his claw in the loop of one of the cuffs and fling Calvin away with inhuman strength, smashing his back off of the cell door. Pieces of brick and concrete began to crumble everywhere as Calvin groaned in agony. Freddy, meanwhile, was clearly enjoying his work, dangling him in front of Gwen like a dog on a chain.

“Let him go!” Gwen insisted, getting back to her feet.

Ignoring her, Krueger continued on his attack, seemingly oblivious to her presence. He was locked in on his latest victim, throwing him back and forth across the cell, breaking bones and splattering blood everywhere. Some of it even splashed Gwen across her face and chest, forcing out a loud blood-curdling scream.

Satisfied with his latest effort, Freddy reeled Calvin in one last time and lifted his body up like a sack of potatoes. There, the crimson-masked Calvin met him face-to-face and spat a mouthful of blood into Freddy’s eyes, attempting to blind him.

It didn’t work. A second later, Freddy reared back and brutally sliced open Calvin’s stomach, lancing open a huge gash that squirted blood all over the cell.

“Fuck you!” Calvin cried, barely able to get the words out of his mouth. “You ain’t real...You ain’t real...You ain’t...”

“You adults have GOT to learn, you don’t fuck with Freddy!!!” Krueger laughed, rearing back for one final strike. Then, like a snake attacking a defenseless mouse, Freddy split Calvin’s head down the center, sending pieces of it all across the room. “Peace out, ghetto vet. Ahahahahaha!”

Laughing hysterically, Freddy let the rest of Calvin’s limp body fall to the ground in a bloody heap as he turned back around to continue his conquest.

“Now, Gwenny, where were we?” Freddy smirked, picking up Calvin’s bloodied bed sheet and twirling it in his hands. “I’ve got a little something special planned for you.”

But Gwen was nowhere to be found. In fact, the cell was empty.

She was gone.
