DELETED SCENES

I KNEW YOU'D BE BACK

1. There was a small scene cut from the final print right before Kristen is thrown into the fire by Freddy. In it, she tells Freddy "I knew you'd be back".

MIAMI VICE FREDDY

2. In the original theatrical release, when Freddy puts on the sunglasses in the beach scene, the soundtrack plays a Miami Vice-like riff. This has since been removed.

HOT FINGERS CURLY

3. There is dialogue missing when Alice first walks into class and sits down. It was in the theatrical release, but has since been removed from VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray. The dialogue is as follows:

Man: See ya, Alvin.
Boy: Hey, he ain't no paper man.
Girl: Why, don't you know him? That's "Hot Fingers" Curly.
Boy: Boy, he really swings out hoppin' with a jive. You want to dance?
Girl: Do I?

ENGLISH LIT LESSON

4. In the 1989 double-feature novelization of the fourth and fifth films, there was an added scene showing Dan and Debbie going to see Mr. Bryson their English literature teacher for help with Freddy, despite Alice's objections. In it, they talk about souls, and Mr. Bryson explains that "Aristotle believed that during sleep, your souls roam free and that what it sees are dreams. Skilled dreamers control what they see". He added, "There's supposed to be two gates your soul can enter, one, a positive dream gate, the other a negative. The dream master guards the positive gate. Protects its sleeping host". But when Dan and Debbie bring up the possibility that Freddy could be the guard of the negative gate, Mr. Bryson insists it is all fiction, and offers a business card of a psychiatrist. They tell him to "save it" and leave.
